    power options settings

I have all the setting I can find that when I close lid to laptop it does nothing when plugged in. I have it set to do not sleep unless I tell it too period. Yes went through 'all' settings. So it will run scans, maintenance etc during night but like lid closed. But when I get up and open lid it wants me to sign back in and scan say it couldn't run.
Any ideas why not and do I have to leave lid up and open then?

Are you sure you have it set to to nothing when you close the lid on AC ? Check again.

If you set your monitor set to go off after 10 minutes then it should not be an issue on power, no need to close the lid.

Do the scans with the lid open, there`s no need to close the lid, scans don`t take that long, and when you do scans, just scan C, there`s no need to keep scanning other drives, you should scan anything you put on storage drives before you put it there anyway.

Just start your scan and walk away.

Microsoft Security Essentials or Defender should take just a few minutes and the same goes for Malwarebytes. Maintenance ??? That`s something you should be doing while sitting at your PC and it should not have to be done that often anyway. I use Ccleaner just about every day when I`m done with the PC, but then you have to keep putting in Usernames on some site which can be a PITA, but a good thing. I`m the only one that uses my PC anyway, everyone else has their own.

The only maintenance you should be doing with a hard drive is defragging and disk cleanup, and Ccleaner to clean out the registry, that`s it.

With a solid state drive you just skip the defrag, there`s nothing more you need to do to a drive.

All the maintenance software out there is garbage and does more harm then good, Ccleaner is the only thing we recommend.
