Timeout setting for Windows Recovery Environment screen  

Hi all,

This concerns Windows 10 Pro version 21H2. The system crashed, rebooted and came back up into the screen shown in the attached image. From what I can tell, this screen is associated with the Windows Recovery Environment.

I'm trying to figure out a way to have the system automatically execute, after a short delay, the "Continue" option that is highlighted.

There is a setting in the Startup and Recovery panel of the "Advanced system settings" (Go to Settings->System->About, then click on "Advanced system settings", then click on "Settings" in the Startup and Recovery section of the popup window) for "Time to display recovery options when needed".

Does this setting control a timeout on the display of the blue WRE screen? If it does, can anyone tell me what happens after the timeout occurs?

Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the feedback.

Yes, the "if possible" is a concern. If I set a time limit and it does try to continue to boot Windows 10 after the limit, I could produce a repeating cycle of boot attempts and failures. The laptop is in a remote location and generally unattended, so I'm trying to limit the amount of local user interaction required.

Thanks again, my plan for now is to set a time limit and see if it functions the way I want it to.

Thanks for the followup @Ghot. Yes, the "Automatically restart" option is enabled and seems to be working properly. The only remaining issue is that when the previous shutdown is not clean, the system goes into WRE and stops rather than continuing to reboot.

I'll be watching the system and if/when it goes through another reboot cycle, I will post the results here.
