How to Get 'Folder Arrows' to Appear Permanently?

    Microsoft Windows Version 10.0.19045.2251

I have searched on the net for the solution to this but cannot find any such advice. I would like the 'Folder Arrows' to appear permanently. Does anyone know how to achieve this?

The "Folder Arrows" indicate that there are sub folders and files under this folder. Where you would click the arrow and it would turn into a down facing arrow showing you the files within.
You would make your folder have permanent arrows by adding folders into it.

I already know what the folder arrows do. For a folder that currently does not have an arrow at all I know that it means there are no sub-folders in that folder. However, creating a sub-folder in a folder that is empty does not force the arrow to be displayed permanently i.e. your 'solution' just does not work.

Yes, you have to have files inside the child folder that is inside the parent folder.
The purpose of the arrow is to alert you that there are other files that are not viewable until you click the arrow next to the parent folder or open the parent folder. If you just have blank folders inside the folder, then the arrow won't appear.

@spunk, point is those chevrons disappear if you move the mouse pointer out of the nav. pane.

I have a couple of third party file explorers and one of those retains the arrow even when clicking anywhere in the right pane.

Not a solution but a possible option when you need that functionality.

Well I'll be jiggered. What wonderful non-brainer backroom programmer at Redmond came up with that idea??

Never noticed that ... mind you, why would I? Just another useless poorly functioning component of Windows/File Explorer, which is why I avoid it like the plague. No wonder 3rd party file manger options are so popular.

For mine, Xplorer2 (paid version) and Xplorer2 Lite (freeware version) on all my 7 devices

Dang! Well now that I know what I am calling the 'folder pane' is more correctly termed the 'navigation pane' I tried that in a web search and found the following: How do I stop windows file explorer hiding the sub-folder arrows According to the response there this behaviour is by design. What???!!!!! And those folks at Microsoft think they are clever! "Yeah man, let's hide stuff from the users!" You, what???!!!!

I guess I can forget about a hidden option in some obscure place in system settings that would fix the issue.

Had a quick look at xplorer2 didn't like it.

I have just spent a while investigating this for you, but unfortunately, I could NOT find a satisfactory answer that would solve your issue.

    I did try !

Maybe @Brink will be able to offer some advice or suggestions. He will see this Thread as I have mentioned him.
