W10 Home vs. Pro registry-v. 22H2 build 19045.2311 BOTH

Having problems with a W10 Home machine. It's a local account but cannot access netplwiz (no option to turn off credential requirements). It has the regedit plug in installed. Found a solution to the problem involving certain keys. The solution obviously relates to Pro because it involves regedit.

The question is, can/should I edit the Home machine registry to match the Pro registry or would that be insane? According to what I see, Pro machine has these keys (registry strings (REG_SZ) named DefaultUserName and DefaultPassword) but Home machine doesn't. In other words, the fix (for PRO) is in the screen shot while the 2 required keys are not in the HOME registry. Can I put 'em in the Home Registry and enjoy the fix?

"no option to turn off credential requirements" is addressed in the relevant TenForumsTutorial. It tells you to use another Tutorial first.
So do this one

Both Home & Pro have RegEdit.

DO NOT merge the 2 Registries. Dual-booting requires each install of Windows to have their own. I had to fix a computer during the summer that had 2 users but the owner had made the names exactly the same, could not remove one as the files for both were in C:\Users\JoeBloke, no differentiation one from the other, required clean install. And Regedit does work in either Home or Pro but Pro may have GPEDIT [Group Policy Editor] set to prevent user access to many settings while Home doesn't have GPEDIT unless changed.

If, as I think you mean, you do not have the checkbox in the NetPlWiz dialog then you need to use the first tutorial first whichever type of user account you have.
- I think you will need Option 2 of the first tutorial to disable passwordless sign-in. That's what I used. I also normally use Local user accounts.

The normal command for running NetPlWiz is

Somebody claimed that the alternative start method has a better chance of having the checkbox appear

In Home, it only acts as a viewer not a method of changing anything.

merged Turn OFF download, rebooted, and got a pw login screen again.

It was turning it off that you needed to do so your second action was correct - Option 2 Step 3.
The Registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PasswordLess\Device
should now contain the entry
DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion
with a Data of zero.

I have never had any problems with this and that tutorial author, Brink, has seen lots of reports of problems so might well be able to help you.
Include the fact that you have checked that DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion entry or somebody will just reply telling you to.

It should be as simple as just changing the value of DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion from 2 to 0 then closing and reopening Netplwiz.
