    splitsecond, chances this can be your issue as third party software puts items in your context menu when you right click causing issues to explorer.exe common issue in past. Use CCleaner disable one at a time. One other choice is clean boot see if it happens there, this is if still have issues and SFC or Dism could not help you.     Hi, looks promising. No application hangs yet after DISM and SFC fix. Booted about 4 times already.

    The issue is back, BOOM! Try to run SFC /SCANNOW and dism to see if anything changes, then I suppose have to try with Ccleaner etc. One problem is when that the "hang" is not on all the time... Rebooted and OK.
    EDIT: Ran SFC /Scannow and it returned OK. DISM returned all succeeded, don't know if it repaired anything or not. Would be easier to troubleshoot if the error would persist on every boot...

    Hmm. Very weird indeed. Beginning to think it's a driver that's perhaps not loading correctly all the time. Did you look at DISM and scannow logs by any chance? How about System Events logs? Anything there?
