Stopping Ads (etc.) when Selecting Search

Is there any way to stop the Ads when one Selects Search in the lower left corner?
If appears (???), Microsoft is bypassing YOUR BROWSER (Firefox in my case) and using Edge to go directly to its Web site.
How they integrated that capability (if correct) and the Ability to bring up various OS system Functions (e.g. Control Panel, or Fax and Scan) is unknown. I JUST DO NOT LIKE, anyone accessing / changing my computer. It is hard enough as it is keep M$ undesired "JUNK" off my system. For those of us who consider a computer for business usage NOT a play toy (e.g. XBox), there MUST be a simple way?

    Hi try
How To Remove Ads From Windows 10 – Ultimate Guide (2022)

As for Edge, in certain cases e.g. News and Interests, Lock screen items, Edge will open ignoring your browser default.

The only thing I know that helps is
    MSEdgeRedirect (free).

Author responds to issues- it's not perfect, but may help.

    You can also do this...

Turn On or Off Search online and include web results in Windows 10
