    Microsoft-Windows-WMI-Activity EventID 5858 ResultCode 0x80041032

    Hello to the whole community.

    I have checked since long time and following error:

    In the services and applications log, an error appears in the WMI-Activity node that I describe below:

    "ID = {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}; ClientMachine = DESKTOP-R*****H; User = NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM; ClientProcessId = 6360; Component = Unknown; Operation = Start IWbemServices::ExecQuery - ROOT\CIMV2 : SELECT * FROM Win32_OptionalFeature WHERE name = 'WAS-NetFxEnvironment'; ResultCode = 0x80041032; PossibleCause = Unknown".

    "- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
    - <System>
    <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-WMI-Activity" Guid="{1418ef04-b0b4-4623-bf7e-d74ab47bbdaa}" />
    <EventID>5858</EventID>

    <Level>2</Level>

    <Computer>DESKTOP-R****H</Computer>
    <Security UserID="S-1-5-18" />
    </System>

    <ResultCode>0x80041032</ResultCode>
    <PossibleCause>Unknown</PossibleCause>
    </Operation_ClientFailure>
    </UserData>
    </Event>"

    I noticed that Process ID binds to PID's such as Nvidia services and also certain HP programs.

    Chrome itself has already registered with this error (checking the task manager).

    The computer receiving these errors has been working perfectly.

    But I would like to know if this error is ignoble, is by default or is more mysterious.

    Hello @pepanee.

    Difficult and very technical article, which in my IMO can fix this problem (on the one hand) and harm on the other.

    Yes. If I were you, I would not worry about it if it doesn't cause any problems on the computer. If there's no slowdowns, weird errors, etc... then I wouldn't worry about it at all.

    I got this quote from someone's post from the link above:
    "Most of the 5858 errors are meaningless and can safely be ignored so there is not much to worry about with them"

    So in conclusion: I wouldn't worry about it, and I would check the Event Viewer in about a week from now, to see if this issue solved itself.

    Thanks @ pepanee for your response.

    The computer does not suffer from slowdowns or excessive memory consumption and the software is working well so far.

    So yes, I wouldn't worry about it. If you want, we can search for other posts by people stating what's going on / what they did / how they manage dealing with this error / etc

    If you want, you can browse around with these search results... maybe you'd find something useful:
    Microsoft Windows WMI Activity EventID 5858 - Search

    Because quite honestly, this type of computer issue is very complex, and as according to that first link, over at Microsoft, state that it's pretty complex to analyze the error and stuff.

    If you want, your best bet is to post your thread over at Microsoft Technet forum. They would know more.

    ...BUT quite honestly: If you see no effect in the way you use your computer, then completely ignore it. There's a possibility that this error may even disappear over time. It will "fix itself" somehow. I've experienced some errors on this operating system that just so happened to "fix themselves" over time, and I was like... "ok cool".

    PS: Thank you for the Reputation comment. You are completely correct in your statement; if you try to resolve every error in the Event Viewer, it will take you weeks, up to months, just to temporarily fix something, that will most likely error out again. Event Viewer keeps a log of sooooo much stuff that isn't really something that causes harm to your computer. It definitely sounds really strange and scary to how many notifications happen in the computer... on a daily basis! I honestly see it as very strange as well. Check out the amount of logs in my Event Viewer... only since September 16 (less than 2 months!).

    Having many of those events is normal.

    Completely agree @ pepanee with you.

    Event Viewer has errors and warnings by the hundreds and thousands.

    Checking them all is exhausting, as is a search for a solution, like this bug, which looks like it's new, and came up with the last cumulative update.

    Yep. There's nothing to be concerned about, since this is all just useless information, unless you get some sort of error that interferes with your ability to use the computer. That's the main reason for the Event Viewer and application developers to allow these "logs" to be recorded down in this feature of Windows; if you computer starts uncooperating properly, then you would look in the Event Viewer and try to fix a certain error that's causing a hard time.

    But in your scenario, there's that log, but it's not doing anything which makes it difficult to use the computer.

    Usually errors like this are spotted by the app developers eventually, and they would re-program their app to fix this.

    It will come across the programmer who did this eventually, that person will look at this error, and do something to fix that. So just ignore it for now. I'm sure that if you look in your Event Viewer in 3 weeks from now, then you will not be seeing that error anymore, as long as that app gets updated.
