Why OR? Why not AND? With IMAP, you can read your email anywhere in or out of your house. Once deleted on one device, it's deleted on all devices. Way better than POP3 email.

I use the Outlook app for my email. It works just like the Hotmail website.
I don't understand what you're saying in your post really... but:
    • Concerning deleting emails: If I delete an email, it goes to the "Deleted" folder. Sometimes I recover deleted emails, or recover any that I delete by accident. I have no rush to delete emails permanently... emails get sent to the Deleted folder using the app & on the website
    • Concerning Synchronization?: The Outlook app synchronizes very quickly with my Hotmail account. So there is no issue with how one updates to look like the other...

What I am saying is that the IMAP protocol synchronizes all devices across all email clients that support it. POP3 does not.

If you want to, read this web page: What is IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)?
