I would also try an Upgrade in Windows Update to get Version 21H2 Build 19044.xxxx then further Upgrade to Version 22H2 now at Build 19045.2130 with .2193 available..

Hi, in what circumstances does this happen? What are you doing when it crashes?

For example, are you rt clicking something?

I also find, as I have Open Shell installed as my start menu, if I try to interact with that before it's completed a scan after logging on that that can crash file explorer.

Do you mean, then (sorry to have to try to drag out of you the circumstances when this happens)

    - file explorer is fine in all circumstances except when
browsing to other computers on my network LAN via run prompt \\servername or \\workstationname thats it
SMG? server message block? Or what?

this is pointless because i already have safe mode ready and waiting upon boot as a selection , i have also already done a complete sweep of my display drivers and reinstalled the AMD radeon drivers.

    and this option:

How to add Safe Mode to Boot Menu options in Windows 11/10

Ah that makes more sense... If all are Win 10, you shouldn't need SMB1 - and it's actually a disadvantage in delaying discovery, and a security risk.

However, there are some NASs that still need it.

Sharing in general is pretty fraught and frustrating. Once set up and working it seems ok- but I only have 2 PCs.

In Safe mode those services and startup programs still works so no it's not pointless.

No that is not what meant SMB1 or SMB is for network path purposes and has been broken in windows no matter what flavor

anytime you go to a run prompt and do whack whack \\ workstation name and browse to another pc explorer hangs up and crashes this happens when many connection to different computers and devices. POS
