Crash, bluescreen, update, now some odd changes

Hey so, I lost power, had a sudden shutdown, boot-up resulted in black-screen, long-press force shutdown, loading loading --> bluescreen, ouch --> restart --> windows automatically starts installing some update, which is odd because I leave all that stuff disabled and manually choose which updates to install.

So finally after some restarts, I windows is running and I have this sitting here:
Crash, bluescreen, update, now some odd changes-scrnsht_2022-10-22_092129.jpg

I had previously stripped Edge out of this windows installation image, but now it's back in and even decided it deserved to be pinned to my taskbar.
    I've got about 6 msedge.exe running + MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe

But the main issue is that every time I click an item in the taskbar, the whole shell just crashes/disappears as explorer.exe restarts...

Where do I even begin with all this?
I want to go back to the stability I had before.

    ---------
edit: okay, I found this in event viewer. bummer.
    Code:
    Faulting application path: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\StartIsBack\StartIsBack64.dll
But how I remove all this edge stuff now? The uninstall button is greyed out...

Also I don't know which update was installed that did this. Settings App > Update History > Has nothing recently.
However wumt shows 5018410 which was apparently 106 GB... I don't know man.
Just help me remove Edge and get my shell to stop crashing. Please.

    Hi, here's what I'd do:

    a. Check your disk(s) (3rd party program)
    b. Restore my O/S from a previously created disk image (the routine and regular use of disk imaging is endlessly recommended here so you have both a full backup and a means of restoring your imaged partitions relatively quickly, enabling you to recover from bad situations and restore your working environment to 'as was').

    E.g. Macrium Reflect (free /paid).

I will assume, since you're asking the question, you haven't yet discovered the value of doing that.

There is no guarantee of being able to recover a potentially randomly corrupt O/S.

    You can try:

Having checked your physical disk(s) e.g. Hard Disk Sentinel (full functional trial), if ok run
    chkdsk c: /scan
    from an admin command prompt

    Then if ok similarly run
    SFC /SCANNOW

Your other option after that is an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data
For that you need an iso file of your current major build (freely downloadable).

    No guarantees.
I had previously stripped Edge out of this windows installation image
Are you aware that certain things in Windows are tied to opening Edge and do not respect your default browser choice?

    OP updated. ☝️
    Let's see...
    chkdsk and sfc
    Brilliant.

Alright, running "setup --uninstall --force-uninstall --system-level" on Edge's installer and adding a DoNotUpdateToEdgeWithChromium registry key took care of that.

    Next...

Do check your physical disk, That's very different from chkdsk.

E.g. Hard Disk Sentinel, excellent, portable version available, result right on its GUI, very informative text.
Or basic SMART check - Crystal Diskinfo (free).
