Folders do get recreated automatically - how to prevent?

    Hi,

Since some time I get some directories automatically recreated after I deleted them.
    it is:
    • C:\Users\<MyUserName>\Documents\_ALL_SORT\Camera Roll
    • C:\Users\<MyUserName>\Documents\_ALL_SORT\Saved Pictures

I think they get created when I copied files form old HDDs to sort them, but now as I want to get rid of the whole "_ALL_SORT" folder those get recreated all the time. They are empty.
And I also don't see the interval how they do get recreated - but it happens.

How do I find out who is recreating them?
    How do I stop it?

    Kind Regards,
    M

They are defined user folders. Just like Documents, Music, Videos, ...
They will get recreated by running the Windows components that expect to use them.

I think the easiest way to deal with them is to
    - create a dummy folder somewhere you don't care about,
    - copy its full path from File explorer's address bar [to avoid typos],
    - right click on each of the unwanted user folders, select Properties,
    - select the Location tab,
    - paste in the copied path, OK.
When you do the second one, Windows will object and make you confirm your decision. It would prefer you to use a separate dummy folder for each one but will obey when you confirm.
If you ever change your mind, you'll have to edit the Registry to undo what you've done. So just post back here and I'll guide you through that.

    That's all,
    Denis

    interest name : _ALL_SORT

    check your 3rd apps....

or maybe.. you already "move" location for the pictures, etc etc to _ALL_SORT/
so everytime you remove it. it will re-create

just right click on the folder
then set other "temporary" folder to test it
    apply---ok
    and see what happen,

That actually helped -> didn't expected to be "that" kind of folders, as I did not created them there but seems to moved them when copied form other locations (as I moved there a lot to sort form other drives and backups).
I now moved them to the "pictures" ans seems fine.

I don't get what you mean by 3rd apps ...

but in the end it is fixed for me.

sometimes other apps use the "save" folder
like shareX, the software allows us to choose a custom save folder
    let's say I choose d:\web\dug.my.id\sharex\picture
    then if I delete \dug.my.id or \web
then shareX will automatically re-create the parent folder called web\dug.my.id\sharex\ then the picture created

but that's good to hear your problem solved
