What Accesslevel do Websites have on my PC when uploading files?
For example when i created this thread i uploaded an attachment, in order to do that i had to grant firefox / the tenforums website access to my pc.
As you can see on the screenshot firefox has opened my windows explorer, i could basically browse though my whole os and even navigate to system32 and upload files from there, obviously i could upload literally anything from my os and any connected drive/storage. So the question is does firefox or the website being viewed have access to my pc? Can it scan or look for files? Could it do harmful things? Before you reply, how do you have the knownledge to anser this, how did you find out the anser to this?
I see it this way, firefox has access to my whole system as i can like i said upload literally anything, meaning there is a chance the website being viewed / the website having a connection to my pc/firefox browser could also have access to any files on my device.
If been asking myself this question for a while, what can websites see on my os / about my os if i upload files? Clearly the browser has access to the system so maybe the websites do aswell, and if not maybe the websites knows an exploit / backdoor to do so.
