[QUOTE=huffman;2451740]3nd, I can only suggest chatting with Microsoft. They have helped me in several cases where things went wrong. It is a free service.

Sounds sort of like the whole problem is Windows 10, and that's easy enough to fix. 86 it!

If for any reason, you're forced to run MS Windows, Windows 8.1 is a much more user friendly OS.

Only keep Windows 10 if it behaves, and gives you no reason to curse at it. Eh?

    Just a thought!

Microsoft will no longer support Windows 8.1 in January 2023, half a year from now. There would be no advantage to downgrading to Windows 8.1
You must run SFC /scannow in the Command Prompt run as Admin
Go to Search and type CMD, Right click the CMD results and Run As Administrator.
In the elevated command prompt type or copy and paste
DISM /Online /CLEANUP-IMAGE /RestoreHealth and press Enter. When that completes type
SFC /scannow and press Enter. It does not matter if there is a space between SFC and / They both work.

I never liked Windows 8. My wife had it one of her PCs. It gave her all kinds of headaches.

Right now I have Windows 10 working fairly well. The only major issue I have is it will NOT let me into BIOS to reset the boot order.

Windows 8.1 is still supported until January and should be able to accept Upgrade to Win10. Windows 8 can't be upgraded, have to get 8.1 first.

Not being able to Boot into the Bios is usually caused by Fast Startup being Enabled in the Bios, it has nothing to do with Windows.
If you can boot into Windows and have no other issues, then you can boot into the UEFI Bios in Settings.
How to enter UEFI (BIOS) on Windows 10 PCs | Windows Central
Once you are in the Bios, go to the Boot tab and disable Fast Startup.

    Just a note about
Oh damn, I found one more thing that does NOT work. PC will NOT run "scf /scannow"
it is sfc /scannow or System File Check, the space before the / may be important or may not be, I always put it in.
