First impressions from me as a combined Touch & Mouse/Keyboard user

Using it purely in desktop mode with the mouse/keyboard it is fantastic
Using it with touch it is pants, apps/start screen do not work well for me they look very messy

I will use it to test how things work, but for daily use I am not back using win 8.1

*As this is really just a desktop preview it is to be expected, looking forward to further updates to refine the touch experience

    Hi there

did you try switching from the Menu start screen to the other (W8 type - tiled) start screen first and then trying touch - It might be that you have to change the environment from desktop to touch to get the best touch experience. My preference would be for the system to handle BOTH without switching environments - but this is a TEST and Ms is obviously addressing the huge concern that desktop users had after W7.

    Cheers

    Thanks

My machine defaulted to the same screen I have in 8, but I get the same results using that as I do if I change to the new start menu
    for example
Using my Laptop as a touch device, ignoring the keyboard/mouse
I launch Mail from start screen by touching it with finger
Mail launches on desktop in a small windows
Navigating the charms replacement (3 dots at top left) is virtually impossible with finger
The Close/Min/Max buttons at top right are better but not ideal when using finger

I am just hoping more is to come here, great for desktop users, poor for touch
