Thank you for your reply and your time. You need to work out why Shellmenunew is showing nothing.
Normally it would list the available New items.

Have you ever used any tweakers or registry cleaners?

I don't think I can help further. Perhaps, as you say, you do indeed have permissions problems - but that's just a guess.
The one thing it's not is a user profile issue as it affects a new user too.

Therefore my only question would be- did the in-place upgrade repair actually complete? Can you see that in your Update History? Do you have Windows.old present? That said, there's no guarantee that fixes everything- it will respect (retain) some choices.

Beyond that you might try Tweaking.com's free repair tool - observe the preparations carefully- try the permissions repairs.

    Good luck.

Yes to all of your questions. I reset everything with the tweaking.com's repair tool. I had used some tweaksers, but I don't see anything that might have affected "new" menu.

I guess I'll have to live with it. Thanks anyway for your help! At least I managed to update my windows.

    I had used some tweakers
    - sounds the most likely cause so far..

It's been a while, but I eventually re-installed my OS and it fixed the problem, as expected. I also found out that WinaeroTweaker which I had used can indeed cause some problems. When I disabled UAC in it, on the newly installed system, the Mediainfo's pop-up windows (in explorer) stopped working. This problem I also had before re-installing Windows and couldn't fix it with any settings manipulations. Now I managed to revert the changes and everything is working again.

Disabling UAC can lead to unexpected consequences... not the one in the title though.

It's relatively easy to add and change entries in the New menu, and even create your own 'template' documents - i.e. the form, content and layout of the document created as 'New'.
