"System Interrupts" Appearing in Task Manager: What does this mean?

    Hi all,

I keep seeing this process in Task Manager that's called "System Interrupts" and it appears in Task Manager all the time and sometimes it uses up to 40% of my laptop's CPU.

I'm running a fully updated version of Windows 10 Pro 32bit so I don't know what else I can do?

It seems to be slowing down my laptop a lot.

    Thank you

Oh, so that's what people refer to as the "Internet Police".

I've left some comments on YouTube in the past, rated PG-13 and above. Once, someone replied to my comment stating that they will call the Internet Police on me.

I should tell them about System Interrupts.
...hmm, the word "interrupt" looks like the word "corrupt". Maybe they're not bright enough to know the difference between the two words; They will think that the Internet Police is corrupt.

Hmm, I once met a Chinese 'internet policeman' - for some reason he was quite reticent...

    Thank you for your reply!

So it's nothing I need to worry about?

The problem is that this "System Interrupts" process is using a lot of CPU as this is a 1.4ghz core2duo...

Can I reduce it from being used so much?

    Update your IDE/SATA/AHCI drivers.

    How can I do this???

With these "System Interrupts" running it makes the laptop painfully slow to use with the 1.4Ghz core2duo...

Of course Windows 10 will be slow with that machine, post the System specs and model.

A lot of CPU time being used by system interrupts indicates either a chronic hardware fault or buggy driver software. There's really nothing a user can do about that except to keep up with Windows and driver updates. I used to have a machine with Windows Vista on it, that had the same problem, and a reboot would invariably solve the problem for a little while. After I installed Windows 10 on that machine, the problem went away, so probably it was a software fault in one of the built-in Windows drivers. The machine also had a Core2Duo processor at 1.6 GHz, and Windows 10 was NOT particularly slow on it.
