Never heard of GWT before. Many thanks... good info.
Get WAIK Tools. From JFX, it's distributed with nearly all PE projects.

Run GWT.exe -? for cmd line options.

    UPDATE: its not working
I have disabled 3 things that have to do with my controller. one being windows' own 360 controller (not idea what it is)
one being the actual ps controller i use
and last one is scptoolkit driver
they all show up as controller in USBdeview, but disabling all 3 only disabled controller in windows. game somehow still manages to recognize it and use it.

any ideas what is going on here? in windows under usb controllers, i dont even see the controller after i disable all those 3, but game still not only sees it, but also uses it. i have no idea how this is even possible.

    hope it works out..
unfortunetely it doesn't work. I made batch files to disable / enable and in the USBDeview it says disabled - Yes, but controller is still working everywhere. Yes I used the /RunAsAdmin flag too.
i'm 100% sure its correct USB device because i unplugged it and looked at USBdeview and then replugged and it popped up. it even says the controller name correct.

any ideas on why it says disabled but still working?

edit: forgot to mention it's connected via powered USB hub but in USBdeview under "usb hub" it says "no". dunno if that makes any difference. either way i dont have enough ports at back of mobo to connect it directly. i must have a hub there.

    You can also use DevCon.
It seems too complex to install, it requires some driver kits and stuff, which will most likely cause more problems than good.
also it seem to be using same method as USBdeview so i assume it would have same result as USBdeview.

this is no solution but i just remembered i have one usb hub i'm not using. its without external power and it has a on/off switch on it. might just add that between the controller and bring it far out enough for me to easily reach the button.
but i would rather find a way to do it via software. thanks again for all the suggestions

Hi, your USB arrangements sound somewhat complex.

    - well, that gets complicated... which might be part of your difficulty..?

By way of an experiment, if you can arrange that your controller is on a USB Hub (as seen in the Device Manager) that can be disabled without affecting any other hardware you need) try disabling that hub in Device Manager, then see if your game still recognises the controller.

. one being windows' own 360 controller (not idea what it is)

nothing complex about it. i simply dont have enough usb ports on mobo so i use hub and controller is plugged in the hub.
i cant disable the hub because i have important things connected to it.

and no i dont use 360 controller. i said i have ps controller and in order to get it working on pc you need scptoolkit (drivers that connect ps controller to pc) and it will be recognized as generic 360 controller by windows. thats how it works.

Well then, I'll leave you to it.

    Windows doesn't have a 360 controller.

    Goodbye.

windows detects most controllers as "generic 360 controller". i have used many controllers on windows and they all show up the same. i have some weird "mobile" controller that uses bluetooth or USB and even that gets detected as "generic 360 controller" by windows. its plug and play, no drivers needed.
thats what i was referring to.

may i ask what difference does it make what the controller is? why are you pickering on me over name of the device? it makes no difference, problem is still same - disabling it in the usbdeview will not actually disable it in the game. windows no longer sees the controller, but by some magic game is still able to use it.
i tried another controller and it has same issue. i assume its the hub, but as i said i cant remove it.

there must be another solution because without scptoolkit drivers ps controllers dont work at all, regardless if there's a hub or no hub. also usbdeview doesnt detect any hubs at all. all usb devices under "usb hub" say no. i have usb 3.0 hub connected to usb 3.1 port at back of my pc and then devices connected to usb 3.0 hub as 2.0. i did this to make sure there wont be bandwidth issues.

i guess i have to just physically cut the wire and install a switch to turn controller on and off .. sigh
