Leaving S mode without a MS account?

We bought a friend a new HP laptop, and it comes in Windows 11 in S mode.
I know how to get out of S mode in Windows 10, but it always asks for a Microsoft Account to the Microsoft Store and then "GET" to get out. I would assume it is the same with Windows 11, yes?

However, Jim does not have a Microsoft Account. Is there a way to get his computer out of Windows 11 in S mode without a MS account?
He wants to install Firefox and use that as a browser, as well as some other non Microsoft programs that he has used before.

So, is it possible to get out of S mode without a MS account?
    Thanks!

You need to have a Microsoft Account in order to change the license from S to Home on the Microsoft Store. The only reason to swap out of S mode is to install apps that are not offered in the Microsoft Store. Otherwise there is no need to take it out of that mode.

Windows "S" is the worst idea ever.

    What's the big deal?

Change local account to temporary MS account, do S change, change MS account back to local account (even close down online MS account if really worried about the endless "MS is spying on you" bovine excrement)
