    Who's the Powershell master ?

    Hey Gang,

Who's the Powershell Wizard on the board?

I'd like to PM him/her/they/them/what ( :) ) on a scripting issue I'm having due to lack of knowledge.

Not asking for script completion, I wouldn't learn anything that way, but wish to show them what i have and get a direction to go on to complete what I need it to do on the PC's.

    Thanks,

    Marc (RW-One)

    Hi.

May I suggest elaborating on your scripting issue in this thread, so as to attract the required talent?

    Thanks.

I concur. I consider myself proficient in PowerShell, but in a standalone environment, no experience with network admin or remothing. So who should answer the question depend on the nature of the OP's issue. More importanly, the whole point of these forums sharing knowledge --- a private exchange defeats that purpose.

The Forum members here have a lot of knowledge in varying degrees in ALL aspects of computing, including Command Line, Batch Scripts, PowerShell, and Visual Basic.

We certainly need more information on what you are trying to achieve, what you have already tried, any errors that you received, and if possible, the Script that you are currently using.

This way, we will be better able to help you with your request.

It is NOT common practice to carry out a thread request via PM, as this limits the responses and possible solution for you, plus depriving people who come across this thread with the same sort of problem looking for an answer from benefiting.

    Paul, Ok, no problem ….

I'm trying to write a PowerShell script that loads user hives for all users on a machine, then removes a certain printer by partial name identification, once that is done i want it to install another printer and set it to the default.

So far, I've accomplished the following:

The script looks for the hives, also grabs those not logged on as well, and i have the cleanup and unloading of them completed as well. So the "Framework" is there.

i have the for each object in my profile list variable set, so I have the section to write that performs the work to do. As a test I was trying to remove the specified printer(s) from hku: printers/connections but have run into problems.

1.I don't believe I have my printer string correct to search for the targeted printer.
    2. I know there are more location in the registry I need to do this at, but unsure, if it removes it from where I'm testing it is unavailable for printing from apps, but still in CP.

As i understand it I'm not gong to use a logon bat to accomplish this, nor can GPO do it across the board for all users on a machine on the domain, it has to be done thru the registry.

    Code available upon request.

    Marc

    @RWOne -

Just to set your expectations correctly, this is primarily a Windows 10 support forum, not a coding forum.
If someone wishes to help you on this PowerShell scripting program, like @Paul Black, consider it to be an honor.

    FWIW.

Thanks for your kind words @Compumind, but I am NOT really up with PowerShell [ too long in the tooth now ], but there are members here that might well be up for the challenge.
