    Search box filled with garbage


    Hellow,Search Box full with garbage.Once got an answer to right-click the "Quick access" in the file explorer and clear history, it worked once or twice,now cannot clean it. And there is more, I do not want that edge browser. (Never installed it)I used recent image backup - no change.Attached screenshot.How to clean that garbage ?Answers will be appreciated.ThanksMotimWin 10, Version 21H1, 19043.1706 x64

    Try this to remove 'Recommended' in Search

    The fact is that MS is pushing Edge in different ways.

    I was fooled by one unexpected prompt which led me to finding I'd set Edge as my default browser- although this was not obvious from the prompt.

    Personally I rarely use that search feature. I use Open Shell (free) as my start menu, and it has its own configurable search box which can be set to search any mix of programs, files, internet - and no annoying Edge prompts.

    Hello,
    Thanks for the answer.
    Made the modifications in the registry as per the location you gave above.
    Restarting explorer was not enough, had to reboot computer.
    Still the search box is filled with items I do not need there.
    Once this box was empty.
    Attached a screenshot of the present look.

    That's how mine looks.

    MS keeps changing it...

    As I suggested- try Open Shell..

    It`s all in the Search settings. And if you don`t like Edge, just use another browser.
