Can't Access Media Player As Before After Win 10 Upgrade

    Hi all,
I recently upgraded from a Dell XPS running Windows 7 to a Dell XPS with Windows 10. My setup also has a Zidoo z9s (with hard drive attached) mediia player hooked up to the PC with an ethernet cable. I never had any problems on my old system, I could see the files on the hard drive attached to the media player from the PC and vice-versa, I could access from the media player some files on the PC.

However, since installing the new pc I lost all of that, or I should say I recently lost all that. After installing the new pc, I noticed under Network in File Explorer an entry called OPENWRT, this was apparently the media player and I could access the files to it and write to it from the PC as I could before. However, I noticed the other day that the OPENWRT entry was no longer listed in File Explorer under Network. Any idea what might have happened to it and how to get it back?

Also, with regards to accessing files on the PC from the media player. I tried signing on to it from the media player but was unable, I believe it's said it was an invalid password / user ID. I used the user ID listed under system and the password that I use to sign onto the PC but no luck.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with my using a Microsoft account rather than a local user ID? Should I set up a local user ID and try to access that from the media player? It seems closer to the way my old system was set up. Thanks in advance for any info you all can provide!

    Dan

    Zidoo z9s

    ZIDOO Z9S-Specs

    - seems to run Android - possibly v7.1- is that correct? Thanks.

Note: networking in Win 10 can be difficult.

There is a tutorial on configuring networking in Win 10- it's a tedious process, much more so than in '7. But I don't know how that would help with Android.

You will likely need to enable SMB1.

You might also try asking Zidoo of course. There are guides for using it with Win 10:

Thanks! But is there an easier way just to get back to the Z9?

    Hello Dalchina,
Thanks a lot for all the info, I see what you mean about networking
in windows 10, sure don't recall it being this complicated in windows seven.
I'll check out your instructions but any idea how I lost access to the
Z9s in the first place? When I first set up this windows 10 PC,
I did notice in file explorer under network, something called openwrt
which I've ever seen before. I began to click on it subdirectories
and realized it was the Z9S. I had full access, was able to write files to
it just like before like a my old windows seven PC. The openWRT icon was there
for about a week then just disappeared. Any idea what may have happened to it?
I didn't make any changes to the system so I'm hoping it might be an easy fix
just to get that back, any thoughts?
    Again, thanks for your help.

Here's the basic tutorial including setting up networking:
Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10

My experience with 2 laptops: all was fine on build 1903 - it took 2 attempts to get it set up.

I upgraded one to 20H2 I think.. and had to revisit settings to get it working again.

When that PC went to 21H1, it could no longer 'see' the 1903 PC, but the 1903 PC can see it.
I had to create a shortcut to the 1903 PC instead.

I have yet to work thru this idea:
    Can't access shares on a Windows 11 system from a Windows 10 system | Windows 11 Forum

That's just an illustration from my experience, and how build upgrades affected networking.

As to how yours was lost.. impossible to guess, sorry.
