    1000 mbit/s = 125MB/s =cat6
    so if your ISP is providing less speed than that , i'd go with normal cat6
    no use getting a cable that can handle 1250MB/s , but ISP is only providing say a 50MB/s line

    the speed of your ISP
    You are neglecting to take into account the speed at which the LAN is desired to operate at. There can be lots more traffic on the LAN than just internet.

    @yahanna -

    Just go with standard CAT 6 - it will serve you well.

    But of the 3 links I posted, which one is best now and for future proofing?

    Of the three links you posted:
    The first link for CableMax is stranded wire. I would NOT purchase that.
    The second link for axGear cable is cheaper - go with that one out of the three.

    Hi NavyLCDR. Appreciate that. Got 2 questions:

    1) Do you think that ax Gear cable is 550Mhz?

    2) Would buying 550Mhz be wise for future proofing?

    1) Yes. It says 550Mhz right on the jacket of the cable.

    2) It would not hurt anything.
