Any Difference Between 250Mhz and 550Mhz Cat6 Cable?
Hi guys.. I need to buy a 100 ft cat6 ethernet cable. They sell in either 250mhz or 550mhz. Is there any difference between the two?

Cat6 – Has a speed up to 1,000 Mbit/s, 250MHz.
Cat6a – Has a speed up to 10,000 Mbit/s, 500MHz.
On GBE 1,000 Mbit/s, on 10GBE 10,000 Mbit/s, Compliant hardware required both ends.
What is the price difference? Usually Cat6A is more expensive due to tolerances.

P.S. Now matter what Cat you buy, always clean the litter box.
Hi Compumined,
So I have 3 links to 3 cables I'm interested in from newegg. Let me know which you think serves best for me:
CableMAX 100ft White Cat6 Snagless RJ45 Ethernet Patch Cable 24AWG 550MHZ Stranded UTP - Newegg.com
axGear Cat6 Network Cable Ethernet Lan Wire RJ45 UTP Patch Cable 100Ft 30M - Newegg.com

1000 mbit/s = 125MB/s =cat6
so if your ISP is providing less speed than that , i'd go with normal cat6
no use getting a cable that can handle 1250MB/s , but ISP is only providing say a 50MB/s line
the speed of your ISPSo what speed do I get from a cat6 with 550Mhz?
You need Ethernet adapters in consequences GBE or XGBE: Gigabyte will run at 1,000 Mbit/s and 10Gigabyte will run at 10,000 Mbit/s...
So if you expect buying "10 Gigabytes Ethernet" gear one day... Get the cat6a as a minimum... I would also prefer Cat6a because it is "Shielded Twisted Pair"... and is less prone to EMI injection and cross talk.
