Yes but on some locations it does not show full path. As I understand with some special locations (such as desktop for example) it's not possible.

I think I see what you're talking about. If you look at the 'Desktop' drop-down from 'Quick Access' or 'My PC' you don't see the path just the word 'Desktop'.

However, if you look at the 'Desktop' drop-down down from under the Username in the navigation window you do see the path:

Unfortunately pinning THAT Username 'Desktop' to 'Quick Access' still results in the 'My PC' lack of a path.

I'm guessing it's the same behavior for 'Documents', 'Downloads' and all the other special default folders.

Exactly. You have to use an alternative file manager.

The actual path (think command line) not a abbreviated path.

As far as I know (I could be wrong)

How to make file explorer show full path on address bar?-desktop.png

    shell:ThisPCDesktopFolder
    shell:UsersFilesFolder\Desktop
    %HOMEPATH%/desktop
The owner of items under C:\Users\Public\Desktop is Administrator.
The owner of items under C:\Users\[your user name]\Desktop is yourself.

The one under This PC just shows the user's desktop plus the merged one.

The issue is finding the easiest way to see the actual text path in File Explorer:
    Code:
    C:\Users\Username\Desktop
For instance if you want to cut and paste it into code.

It's what you get when you click in the address box if you have 'Display the full path in the title bar' checked, or this drop-down carrot.

However this carrot or address box method DOES NOT produce the Full Path with any of the special top level folders under 'This PC', such as '3D Objects', 'Desktop', 'Documents', 'Pictures', etc.

And yet WILL show the Full Path if any folders within them are selected such as 'This PC > Pictures > Screenshots'.

Right. the default system file folders do not natively show the true path.

I tried the Show Full Path in the Address Bar for Special Folders - Winhelponline procedure [post #18 above] but have found it to be incomplete.

I had to search through all that set of Registry Keys to find that there were two relevant ones for Downloads.
Local Downloads - as shown in their .reg file
    and
Downloads - not mentioned by WinHelpOnline
and I had to change both to get the full path to appear in the File explorer, Quick access Address bar for my Desktop/Downloads entry.

    See the discussion at
tutorial suggestions #606 and the next few posts - TenForums
As Brink points out, the change does not affect all methods of getting to, for example, the Desktop.

    All the best,
    Denis

Hi all! I know this is an old thread, but I just discovered a related trick that I wanted to share. But in scanning this thread, I noticed one thing was never clarified:

The OP's screenshot is Explorer displaying the virtual Desktop, which although it contents include file system objects, spcifically the contents of both the user's Desktop folder (shell:ThisPCDesktopFolder) and the public/shared Desktop folder (shell:Common Desktop), as well as virtual locations such as Network, Control Panel, etc.
