No Video Streaming Solutions for Windows 10?

It seems like there's a grand conspiracy to prevent people from streaming on the internet from their own connections, free of corporate streaming services that are locked down with censorship.

Microsoft discontinued every tool that ever was used for streaming. There were tools up til 2020, but a visit to their download page indicates a 404 now.

The nginx option is without support. I've been trying to make it work since April 2018, with no success.

Ironically, my 2005-era Sony laptop with XP Home Edition has Windows Media Encoder 9 and can stream. But this tool is no longer available for Windows 10.

What's an independent streamer to do?

    What?

    You need PLEX Media Server:

Stream Movies & TV Shows - Good Movies to Watch with Plex

Free and truly great. Use it all the time.

    That's it.

P.S. If you use Roku, they have a great app. Again, free.

I already have media servers for in house media playback.

I think y'all misunderstood my question:

I am looking to break free of Youtube/Twitch,Facebook for online streaming. Too much automatic censorship baked into the system these days.

What I want is to be able to stream from a residential connection, independent of Big Tech.

I used to do this in 2005 on Win XP Home, with Media Encoder 9 and a Sony VX2000 camcorder.

It seems there is no modern solution today.

Microsoft Smooth Streaming was discontinued 2 years ago and the download page is gone.

nginx doesn't work, even though I downloaded the "turnkey" setup from Doug Johnson's web site and followed his instructions to the T.

    I'm running out of options.

I use this to stream my webcam turned into kid monitoring camera. Pretty sure it will do what you are looking for.

    @M A Weiss -

    Could you please clarify this:

"What I want is to be able to stream from a residential connection, independent of Big Tech."

    Thanks.

Not sure how much more I can clarify it. I want to be able to broadcast live stream video from OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) through my web server and have it in a frame on one of my web pages hosted on my server.

I'm currently doing this through Twitch, but I got the bad news that they, too, will be joining Youtube and Facebook with automatic censorship and blocking of streams.

Like I said, I used to do this in 2005 with Windows Media Encoder 9 on Win XP Home Edition. Looking for a modern solution that supports HTML 5 streaming and HD video.

Ah, ive never really streamed much myself. Not outbound at least, so im unaware of some of the finer details. I host my own personal webpage, and i have it integrated (i forget how i did it, its been a while) into a page.

What did it say and what browser? i just ran thru the steps on firefox and chrome, got no warnings or issues, and virus total, only "Secure Age APEX" thinks its malicious out of 69 scanners. Never heard of secure age before even.

First off Smooth Streaming was not discontinued. Second, nginx is a Web Server/Load Balancer, it is the first step if you want to set up a server for various projects. You will use a lot of bandwidth if you plan on streaming on your own connection to a web page and for why. Instructions for setting up a Linux of BSD server for video streaming. My server is running Windows 10 Pro. I am not familiar with LINUX. So I only know the solutions based on Windows.

I'm relocating to Japan, soon, so my upstream pipe there is 1gb/s (soon to be 2gb/s with offers to upgrade from NTT Docomo) so bandwidth is not an issue. I rarely have more than one viewer at a time anyway, so I can even do it on a measly 10mb/s cable connection in the States.

That website for the Yawcam software was filled with adware. It was demanding I install some program before I can download Yawcam, so I backed out of it.
