In the search box, type in---dxdiag >run as administrator >select the Input page and expand the mouse option to check for any reports.
Then Device Manager >mouse and go through all the tabs.
Next Settings >devices >mouse and check through the options and troubleshoot.
Control panel > devices & printers > RIGHT click on the mouse icon and go through those options
Check with Reliability History to see if there are any reports covering the problem. If so,then ---view tech details ---lines 1- 3 will give searchable information.
Have you tried allowing Windows to control the mouse rather than the Steel system?
Hi, I have tried some of what you suggested but I didn't understand some of it, here is what I did do.

#1: I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary in the dxdiag but took a screenshot in case you could spot something I may have missed.Double Click (Mouse and or Computer Issue)-dxdiag-info.png

#2: I had already looked in Device Manager but I did again in case I missed something but I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, again I took a screenshot in case I missed something.Double Click (Mouse and or Computer Issue)-device-manager-info.png

#3: I tried troubleshooting again but the result states that no issues where found, aside from that I could not understand everything I was looking at when going through the mouse settings under devices and printers.

#4: Could not find any reliability history.

#5: I have not, not sure which option is better?

In the bottom left search box, start typing in ---reliability history ---and after a couple of letters,a box should appear, allowing you to enter.
Just take your time and slowly go through it.
With regards to which option is more suitable, only trial and error will tell. I'm not familiar with Steel,so cannot offer an opinion.
For items which you don't understand, slowly read through each one and search the internet to expand your knowledge.A good starting point is docs.microsoft.
It is advisable to at least create a restore point and infinitely better to use Macrium Reflect, free or paid,to make an image prior to investigating unfamiliar subjects.Macrium provide an excellent User Manual.
Theory is fine, practice makes it stick.

A sketchy switch in the mouse might possibly cause this.

That's my thinking too. You may be able to mitigate it by playing with the mouse double click speed.

Can you boot your PC from an external device and see whether the same will happen?

Hi everyone, for the past 48 hours I been having some odd issues with my mouse and or computer.
Whenever I click once it would sometimes count my singular click as two consecutive clicks, the keyword here is "sometimes" as it feels like a 50/50 chance of it happening, this also affects when I want to open a file, web-surfing, windows won't move or be resized, files won't move (most of the time), can't scroll up and down (most of the time) and the list goes on, feel free to ask for any further information.

I have had this issue in the past on the same computer a few years ago but it only lasted for a few hours and I have no idea how or if I resolved it.
    (OS Build 19044, 1620)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mesmerrow

    Welcome to Ten Forums.

I've played this game before and still have the ancient crappy failing mouse attached to an old laptop.

I've successfully used this app called Click Fix and the mouse is still working correctly, years later.

ClickFix - Stop unwanted double clicks (Windows Only)

Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll find a test button to proof the performance of your mouse.

This is how my working mouse functions using this test.

Double Click (Mouse and or Computer Issue)-0328b-clickfix.jpg
(each mouse down signal is followed by only 1 mouse up signal. These results above are a result of multiple single clicks.)

Depending on the point of failure, be it mouse hardware, driver related or otherwise, the above may not be the solution for your issue.

As previously mentioned by other members, this link has directions for the ABC solutions.

I don't think that is a "stupid" question, at all.

I would certainly try it, if all the other suggestions fail.

I know of one member who had a somewhat similar issue, and that was the final resolution for him, I believe.

Yes I am that member. My earlier suggestion mitigated it for a while but a replacement was needed in the end. Interestingly it was double posts on this forum that first showed the problem. I kept getting the "you have to wait one minute between posts" message.

    Thank you, Keith.

I didn't want to name you.
