Desktop PC Work: HP Pavilion p6203w

Hello all... I hope you are all doing well.

I am working on a computer for a friend. The computer is an HP Pavilion p6203w Desktop. The stickers on it are AMD Athlon II x2 and NVIDIA GEFORCE with CUDA. It originally came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. But was evidently upgraded to Windows 10 Home 64-bit. I am trying to find the most recent drivers and applications that came on it. Apparently, the factory recovery partition on it was wiped out, because I can't restore it back to when it was first purchased out of the box. So I may have to order the recovery media for it. All I can do is reset current OS (Windows 10) on it. When I do an autodetect on HP's website, it says it can't find any drivers for it. HP gives a link to either change the OS or to manually put in the computer. I manually put it in, and there are still no drivers found for it on HP's website.

My question to you all is...

Should I order the recovery media for it and/or can y'all find the most updated drivers for it for me?

    Hope y'all can help!

    - Jesse

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01859861

    Released in August of 2009.

Does HP even offer recovery media for something this old? A quick Web search suggests that they do not.

If it was me, I'd look for drivers for the individual components. There may not be Win10 drivers, but Win8 or Win7 drivers may work.

    Example:

    chipset/graphics: GeForce 309.08 Driver | 309.08 | Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8 64-bit, Windows Vista 64-bit | NVIDIA

    Best of luck.

@bobkn: Thank for the help! When you said to look for drivers for the individual components, what did you mean by that?

The motherboard's chipset/video drivers, in the link I provided.

    Realtek ALC888S audio.

    Realtek RTL8201N Ethernet controller.

(I probably wouldn't bother with the modem, unless your friend really wishes to do dialup Internet access.)

Looking at the list of bundled software, the only thing I would miss, personally, is Microsoft Works, which was last sold in 2009.

    Hi Jesse,

You can use a program like Snappy Driver Installer Origin "SDIO" to find out missing drivers.

Or you can get the Hardware IDs from the unknown devices properties.

Device Manager - Finding Unknown Devices | Tutorials

And go to DriverIdentifier - The most simple & easy driver updating tool. or Lookup Latest Drivers on the Ultimate Driver Database - DriverLookup.com to find the missing compatible drivers.

For an old HP computer consider testing all of the hardware using HP bootable diagnostics:
(download onto any bootable flash drive that has free space so that it can be used on any HP computer or computer that cannot boot)
(or install directly on the computer when there is a reliable internet connection)
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/hp...re-diagnostics
    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp138...0/sp138354.exe

Boot to the flash drive repetitively clicking F9 > select the USB flash drive > run extensive > loop until error > the next day if it has made two or more loops > click esc > take pictures with a camera or smartphone camera > post images or share links into the thread displaying the tests performed with results.

If using the installation on the computer then after a power on repetitively click F2 or F10 > run extensive > loop until error > the next day if it has made two or more loops > click esc > take pictures with a camera or smartphone camera > post images or share links into the thread displaying the tests performed with the results.

If all of the hardware components pass then install drivers.

For driver sources bobkn commented on using Windows 7 or 8 drivers.

Additional options are to use the applicable component manufacturer websites:

    Nvidia, AMD, Intel, etc.:
NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Automatically Detect NVIDIA Products
    Official Drivers | NVIDIA
    https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/fa...ver-autodetect
    Intel(R) Driver & Support Assistant
    Intel(R) Driver & Support Assistant

Once you've got the above drivers installed then open device manager > click view > click show hidden devices > manually expand all rows > look for any row displaying a yellow triangle with black exclamation mark or unknown device > post images or share links into this thread

@zbook: The auto updater from NVIDIA says that it requires the latest version of Java. I have also ran the AMD Auto Detect tool and it says it does not match the system configuration or something.

For older / legacy AMD drivers:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-630
    https://www.amd.com/en/support/previ.../radeon-rx-580
    https://www.amd.com/en/support

For the Nvidia auto detection you may be able to use Internet Explorer and Java.
    https://www.java.com/en/download/hel...e_install.html

If you use Java for the Nvidia tool it may be best to uninstall Java after completing the task.

When available post images or share links with the HP UEFI hardware testing results.

Is this a clean install of Windows 10 using a bootable Mediai Creation Tool (MCT)?
Were all partitions deleted making an unallocated disk drive before the installation?
