How to delete searched file list using file manager?

I did a search for *.jpg in a folder, and I want to delete the whole list of 300 or whatever jpg files that appear.
There is no select all, nothing. I thought I used to be able to so that?

OK got it, you have to manually select files, then you can delete them all at once

Well it does not work, says interrupted action?
    File manager has hung.

Earlier I had told it to index all the drives on my PC, has 1,450,000 index entries.
Is the indexing killing the thing?
But without indexing, file searches are horrendously slow, and this is a SSD

I managed to close the window, and briefly saw Clone CD directory deletion required admin privileges, but that folder was not showing in the list, so baffling. That folder is in folder 1234. I searched again and saw all the jpg files are now gone.

navigate to the same directory in the command line, then type del *.jpg. That should take care of it for you quite nicely.

It's clear that, like me, Ed, above goes back to the good 'ol days of DOS...

The way I've done things like that in Windows is to first change the view of the files in the folder (directory) to 'details'. If there isn't already a column showing for 'type' (ie, folder, JPG, MP3, etc), then right click the column header 'bar' and add 'type'. Next, <left click> on the word 'type' in the column header bar to sort everything by type. (first click is ascending sequence, 2nd to descending sequence). Next, highlight all the JPG files at once holding down the left button, and delete them.

If there's a few of those you wish to keep, once highlighted, hold down the <cntl> key and <right click> individual files to un-highlight them prior to deleting the 'big bunch'.
