Thanks for the tip. I've added that and Emco Unlockit to my repertoire. :) I like anything that gives the end user more control.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't had an opportunity to try any of them yet as I'm currently away from home but be assured I will report back when/if I manage to solve the problem.

So, PowerRun (recommended by ziffel) has done the trick and I have managed to delete the files.

Thanks to all who contributed :)

    Have you tried the following?

    Download NSudo - MajorGeeks

It works very well. I have used it instead of PowerRun since I tried it.

    Hi Matthew,

Hopefully I won't need to use anything like this again, but thanks for your suggestion :)

I used PowerRun to delete system protected files in the hidden folder C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. After uninstalling apps I noticed using TreeSize free that all of the files associated with the apps were still there taking up a lot of space.

Downloaded PowerRun here: Download PowerRun v1.6

It's portable. So no need to install anything.

For the less technically inclined I'll give specifics on how to delete system files using PoweRun. Run PowerRun as admin. Click the "cmd" icon on upper right. I have PowerRun on a secondary drive so that is the directory cmd starts at.

    Type: cd /d C:\Program Files\WindowsApps
    To change directory.

    Type: rmdir /s /q “NameOfFolderToDelete”
Deletes system folder and all contents in WindowsApps directory called NameOfFolderToDelete. You want the quotes in the command.

I just clicked the folder in TreeSize free to get the folder names which are long and complicated.

I deleted almost 5 gigs of space. Awesome.
