Can't burn .iso file to Verbatim DVD-R disc with either of two drives

    Hello all,
I am trying to burn a .iso file to verbatim DVD-R discs without success. ImageBurn gets to within 80-90% and then gives write errors:
10:54:05 Failed to Write Sectors 2113920 - 2113951 - Reason: Unknown (Internal Target Failure) (ASC: 0x44, ASCQ: 0xA9)

This keeps happening on two different DVD, one in my laptop and one external drive.
The internal drive is a Slimtype Prod_DVD_A__DA8AESH and the external drive is a Pioneer BD/DVD/CD burner.
My computer is an Acer Aspire E5-575G with an Intel Core i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.40 GHz 8GB RAM.
    Edition Windows 10 Home
    Version 21H1
    Installed on ‎10/‎17/‎2020
    OS build 19043.1526

The fact that it happens in two different burners makes me think it is the discs, but they are only 5 years old which many sources say should still be fine.
I've ordered a small, new package of the same discs to try.
In the meantime, any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thanks!

Why would you bother when usb drives are much quicker and more reliable (and inexpensive)?

This probably won't help, but can you mount the ISO in File Explorer? If so, can you copy its contents to a hard drive? Those would be simple tests for whether the ISO is corrupt.

I don't recall the last time I attempted to create a DVD from an ISO. It's rather old school.

I'm making a copy of a film for someone elderly who doesn't have a computer, just a DVD player.
    Thanks again.

I'm glad that the ISO is not corrupt.

It has been years since I wrote a DVD movie disk. I don't recall ever doing it from an ISO, but I see no reason for any difficulties.

A quick web search suggests that it may be a hardware issue. I hope that your new discs resolve the issue.

Does your elderly friend have the means of playing a movie from a USB drive? My TV can, and I can also plug USB drives into my player (which is a UHD BluRay device). An alternative would be to rip the movie to a thumb drive. I hope that your friend would be capable of doing that, if the hardware supports it.

    @edwardBe

If it's happening in two different burners... it could also be the DVDs themselves.
Verbatim -R usually have the least problems... but they could still have an occasion problem I guess.

I guess it could also be some kind of DRM in the ISO itself, that allows playing but not burning (duplicating).

No USB port, she says. I don't have access to her TV, since she is in Texas and I'm in California. I may have to buy her a cheap, new TV from Sam's or Amazon if the ordered discs don't burn.

@Ghot The ISO was created with DVDFab, so no DRM.
Thanks for all this time you've spent.

How large is the iso. Was it intended for a doublesided disk?

Good heavans. A commercial copy of the disk would be cheaper than a TV, usually. I don't need to know why you aren't considering that route.
