    is a HD hard to install

    You can get an SSD for pretty cheap. 500Gb for about $50. 500GB hard drive for about $30

    Whether that worth it to you is up to you. It is nice to have a spare computer though.
    Or... you could replace the drive, then sell the laptop.

    I have several old laptops and netbooks which I rebuilt. On one I have win NT, XP, Vista,
    and win 8 , with virtual win 3.11 and win ME. on another a hackintosh and still another Linux
    only. there is always some use for old Lappys

    It is not hard to replace a hard drive on most laptops. Post the model number and we can check for you.
