How do I stop Windows Explorer from "jumping" down?

Here is the situation...

When using Windows Explorer or trying to save a file, I scroll to a subdirectory such as Taxes and expand it.

Toward the bottom of the list, but the last time, is 2021.

As I scroll down to 2021, the list of subdirectories suddenly "jumps" up and I now have to scroll up 2021.

How do I stop this jumping?

Thanks, but I did not do a good job explaining the phenomena.

Here is the situation...

1. From Acrobat, I hit [Save as PDF File]
2. A Windows Explorer window opens, I click on [Finances], and the window looks like the first image...
3. I then mouse over [Taxes], but before I can click on the folder to open it, my view jumps down and results in the second image...

I want to stop this automatic jump down.

Any thoughts?

The expanding part may be from having "Expand to open folder" turned on below. Turning it off should stop this part.

This is my first opportunity to read and implement your suggestion.

I will give you an update as soon as one of the following occurs:

1. I observe the phenomena repeat itself a few times , or
2. I do not observe the phenomena at times that I remember having experienced the phenomena before.

It worked... for a while, but now it is jumping, again.

"Expand to Current Folder" and "Expand to Open Folder" are both unchecked.

Any other suggestions?

Sorry to hear that. You can see if toggling the setting on and off may refresh it to stop expanding.
