He didn't lose his privacy and MS should be thanked about what they did and how they reacted. I guess you did not read the whole article, judging by you mentioning he lost his privacy even though the article clearly states this:
I welcome MS to use this technology to reveal these perverts, terrorists and such.Before blaming Microsoft for looking into your account, it's worth mentioning that the company doesn't manually check the files you store in the cloud, but has scripts that automatically scan images and search for content that might break the law.
