    How to unlock system

Lenovo Yoga 920-13IKB was given to me. Not sure what version of 10. Laptop is from 2018. Bitlocker error and of course user does not have key. Bitlocker says it locked the drive because secure boot was turned off. I went to turn it back on and there is a password on the system that no one knows.

Laptop was running perfectly. How the secure boot was turned off if the system is locked is a puzzle. Is the laptop bricked? I was going to copy files for her and then try to reload, but I have to almost completely take it apart to get to the SSD. Not sure I have the right case to do the copying and do not want to risk breaking the frail looking connectors.

Is there a way to get past the system lock so I can turn secure boot back on and hope that cures the bitlocker issue so she does not lose her pictures and such?

Cannot as it is password protected and no one knows it or even knew it had one. She mentioned her son is her IT guy. I wonder if he was learning and boogered it up.

Is the BIOS actually password protected? Can you get into BIOS settings?

If the bios is password protected, see if this helps.

Gee, but I hope that this forum isn't frequented by thieves.

I suppose that a simple Web search could find the same information, though.

Just to add, the BIOS usually has 2 password settings, one is to block access to the BIOS and the other is to block the computer booting to the OS. Usually the BIOS and it user settings can be cleared by removing the battery for the CMOS/Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor on the motherboard which stores the BIOS or maybe a jumper or pins for a jumper to clear it, put it back to its as-shipped state.

    Maybe, as a last resort.
