    Shutdown/Hibernate issue

Hi all. I'm having the following issue when I turn off my computer

    1) If I use the hibernate option, the system immediately shutdown without asking to close any open file. At a later resume, the system shows a blue screen showing an issue with the previous shutdown, and all the applications active before the hibernate request were closed as if a shutdown were performed.

    2) If I use the shutdown option, the system immediately shutdown without asking to close any open file. It starts well, but in the event viewer, there is a critical error Kernel-Power 41 "the system reboots without cleanly shutting down first".

Hello marcodea and welcome to tenforums

Confirm all drivers and BIOS are up to date from Dell website or app.

Run SFC Command in Windows 10 to check for Windows issues.

If the above doesn't resolve it, take a look at
FIX: Windows 10/11 shuts down instead of hibernating/sleep
and if applicable, please make a full backup Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect if making any significant changes

    Hi
The errors identified by SCANNOW seem to be resolved but the issue with shutdown/hibernate remains.
    Translation of output:
    Damaged file founded and restored

Do you want me to share the log file?

I'm checking the next piece of advice.

    Thanks

Log file not required - main objective is that sfc successfully fixed any issues found.

    Yes, proceed with next suggestions.

    Hello.

I've tried almost every step but I can't solve it.

The only changes I didn't apply are:
    - uninstall the network driver;
    - Turn off hard disk after to 0 minutes (it's not available in my power plan)

    Thanks

Hello and thanks for your update.

    What happens if you
disable hibernation : "powercfg /h off"
then shut down the PC, then turn it back on and
    re-enable hibernation: "powercfg /h on"
the repeat your initial OP tests?

    Also please run
    "powercfg /list"
    and
    "powercfg /a"
    and post the outputs.

    Marco,

    Reinstall your display driver
    - Even if you have the latest version, it might have become corrupt and there is no diagnostic test so reinstallation is the only way of addressing this potential problem.
    - In Windows 7, Windows Help suggested this as one of the standard measures when there was a sleep-related problem.
    - I cannot say that that the display adapter is definitely the cause of your problem, merely that it is a possibility that needs to be confirmed / eliminated.
    - Using Device manager to update the driver is not sufficient. It just looks for version numbers-dates not driver integrity.
    - If your display card was part of the computer when you bought it, get the driver from Dell.
    - If you bought the display card separately, get the driver from the display card maker

    Hello marcodea,
Thanks for the update. I would try reinstalling the video driver as Denis suggested.
