Windows 10: Windows fails to access folder stored in external drive

Windows 10: Windows fails to access a folder stored in an eternal hard drive connected to a machine,

I couldn’t figure out why Windows fails to access a folder stored in an eternal hard drive connected to a machine and ends up with the worming below:

“You don’t currently have permission to access this folder”

What might be the issue here?

Its very common if the disk is used on different PC's as the folder will be owned by the user who created it. You need to set permission to every one

Hello. I had a similar problem not long ago. Since you haven't already mentioned it, try changing the permissions of the file.

1 Locate the folder causing issues.

2 Right-click the folder and select "Properties".

3 From the top, choose the "Security" tab. Click 'Advanced' to bring a window like the following:

4 Click 'Change' then click 'Advanced'. Click 'Find Now'

5 Now find your username, click OK, then OK again and then 'APPLY' and 'OK' and 'OK' for the final time.
