No questions asked Windows Explorer copy or move actions

Sometimes, I just want to copy or move a very large folder containing a 100 GB or so overnight and deal with questions only after the copying or moving is almost done. Is there a utility program in Windows 10 that will do that?

I'm looking for something similar to what XCOPY was able to do in MS-DOS where you had switches that would for example, ignore prompting when over writing files that already exist in the destination target, or ignore warnings regarding moving system files.

    Thank you.

If you're up for using the command line, xcopy still exists.

I have never used it, but it has many switches. You can discover what they are by entering

    xcopy /?

    in a command line window.

    Similarly, you could use RoboCopy.
It maintains folder & file creation dates in the copies whereas XCopy sets creation dates to the current date-time.

    RoboCopy /?
    Robocopy - SS64
    RoboCopy - MSDocs

    Example
    Code:
    RoboCopy "D:\Desktop\Whatever" "A:\UtilityBackup\Wherever" /MIR

    XCopy is explained in
    XCopy /?
    XCopy - SS64
    XCopy - MSDocs

Thank you both. Although I'm very familiar with command lines (having been a *nix and novell network admin in a former life), I'm looking for something that has a GUI and a pretty face without having to go to cmd mode. Preferably a mod, an add-on, an extension or hack to Windows Explorer? Or, another Windows GUI based program. I don't mind if it's payware.

    Well, there's RoboCopy GUI
    - The unofficial MS RoboCopy GUI [Graphical user interface] apparently works with Windows 10 but I haven't used it myself.
    - You can do a general online search for it using something like robocopy gui download
    - There was also a Microsoft Robocopy GUI Users Guide that you might search for as well.
    - I never liked the GUI & have not experimented with it since Win7. I felt that you had to have studied RoboCopy itself in order to use it so there was no real benefit.

There are also utilities such as TeraCopy that might do what you want but I know nothing about them.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

Good tips. I'll follow-up. I'll look for something that keeps it simple. Thank you.

    File explorer, or
    RoboCopy, or
    XCopy.

You might find it interesting too? (you can quickly check it out by flipping and viewing the various screencaps available on the web page).

No, I use RoboCopy for all complex copying needs.

    You could too. Example
    Code:
    RoboCopy "D:\Desktop\Whatever" "A:\UtilityBackup\Wherever" /MIR
RoboCopy has much more sophisticated capabilities but this is a basic command that will do most things you need.
I do not understand why you don't want to use it.

Will it report errors if anything untoward happens?
