Windows 10: I have gone back to Windows 7

I loaded Windows 10 on three computers and had no operation problems. I removed it from two of them because two programs t I use were not compatible. I'm tired of replacing perfectly good software because some new OS doesn't care about them. I also don't like the lack of control with updates. The last thing I didn't like was a Microsoft message that popped up in the lower right screen offering me a discount to upgrade my MS Office software. I'm afraid that could multiply into a big nuisance later on. Windows 7 has served me well over the years and I'm not aware of any need of benefits that Windows 10 may offer. That could change later but for now it only offers disadvantages for me.

I did keep Windows 10 on a Lenovo W540 Laptop because Lenovo had loaded Windows 7 with their terrible software Apps and anything would be an improvement.

Mark, rumors are that a SR1 update will come some time around October. People were confused about it coming last week.
I'm not disputing what you are saying -- I'd just like to know the source. There are a lot of bloggers and journalists out there that simply make things up to get attention. I'd rather see something from MS that I can rely on.

While I understand the love of an older OS, many start a thread or post a comment of how it does not work.

What is left out: Computer Model, How old the 3rd Party Software is?
The age of the computer has a lot of to do with Windows 10 if it is older than 3 years you may have problems, Computers older than 5 years may be time to get something new if you want to run newer software.

Software: I am currently using software 3rd party over 5 years old no problem ( 2010) if you are using software older than this its pretty old, if you tell me its over 10 years old then I would say its way past time to update.

    My computer?
Dell 3147 2 in 1 Quad core Baytrail
    Wifes Lenovo G500s i3
    Some of the software:
    Libre Office 5
    MS office 2013
    Paint.Net
    Chrome
    FireFox

Both run Win 10 without any issues

I have this old copy of Paint shop Pro7. over five years old, even had it on my XP system. Been able to install it on win7 Win8.1 and now Win10. Have newer programs that will not install,
The software companies of the programs, want to sell me a new program it's a money grab for some.

Its not always a "Money Grab" without new versions and paying for them every few years there will be no progress. It costs real money to develop programs, would you work for free? Why do people expect this from Software

The purpose of my thread is to inform others who may also encounter problems with Windows 10 about the experience I have had. It is not intended to incite a shouting match about "terrible" Microsoft or bad 3rd party software companies.

My desktop system is first-rate, equipped with excellent components and has up-to-date apps and drivers. Not all good software proves to be compatible with every other good software product. This is my desktop computer:

    Computer Type PC/Desktop
    System Manufacturer/Model Number ZT855
OS Windows 10 Professional (or Windows 7)
    CPU Intel I5-3450
    Motherboard Gigabyte H67MA-USB3-B3
    Memory 16GB

    Graphics Card AMD Radeon 7750
    Sound Card Xonar DGX
    Monitor(s) Displays Samsung
    Screen Resolution 1366 x 768
    Keyboard Logitech

    Mouse Logitech
    PSU Corsair CX600
    Case ZT855
    Cooling ZT855
    Hard Drives 3 Samsung 840 EVO SSD 250GB each 1 Crucial MX100 512GB
Internet Speed DL 65.18 UL 14.37
    Browser Chrome
    Antivirus Webroot

Two of the apps that have failed are Microsoft Lifecam HD3000 and the Samsung Magician Rapid Mode Drive. Both of these products are today's iterations.

Each will not function under Windows 10. I have been in contact with both Microsoft and with Samsung. They have told me that they are working on solutions.

So, the OS on my desktop will not allow use of the start menu and two integral apps will not work on my computer.

I will pull the SSD that house Windows 10, install it in an old computer and play with it. I simply need a functioning desktop NOW with Windows 7, I can do the computing I need to do at present.

I thank each of you for your comments. They are informative and interesting.

I am another who doesn't think W10 is ready for "prime time" quite yet, but am sure it will develop. So I have it installed on a separate disk that I keep up to date and play around with. For getting work done, I have W8.1 Pro installed on it's own disk. I like to keep the OS's separate, because it is much easier for doing system images.

You shouldn't need any software to use the webcam, just drivers. Whatever video chat program you are using would be ready to go.

As for the Samsung software, I'm posting this from my HP ultrabook with a Samsung Evo 840 installed, no issues whatsoever.

Your saying "posting" if one lays out $200 dollars and six Months later Microsoft has a new OS,you need to buy another program? Yeah!! Yeah!! and YEAH!!! I sure don't think it's progress for us program buyers. Maybe pay a small amount for updating the program, but buy a full new program maybe you but not this guy.
