Is anyone thinking of leaving Windows for a MAC?

I use win10, Linux and I recently acquired a 2016 Macbook air 8gb ram ( a nice donation from my sister ). It took about a day to get used to the quirks of the MacOS - I use the Linux and Mac to make builds on the Unity engine and Win10 as my daily driver workstation. I am not sure the price of the new M1pro/max justifies the performance, I think they are massively overpriced ( no change there with Apple ). Also, some software may have to go through Apples Rosetta program, a bit like WINE on Linux. The M1's seem to be geared towards video production, or so it appears on reviews. The best bang for the buck is definitely the Mac Mini if you have the peripherals. The Mac air cpu/gpu throttles and gets very hot at times.

There was a time that you could do stuff with an Apple Macintosh a Windows computer just couldn't do.
Also the quality of the screen, printer output, fonts, applications, ... were much better on a Mac.
Now both computers could do the same, admittely in a different matter.
If you spend the same amount of money on a Windows machine than you have the same quality as a Mac.
of course Apple is still and will always be a hype.

that is of course my humble opinion

Not really sure that I would call the MAC, hype. I think overall they are solid machines, the people who often use them love them, and if you are engrained in the Apple ecosystem (meaning you have an iPhone, iPad, Watch or otherwise) it would often make sense to have the computer component as well

with "hype" I didn't mean anything negative (I am not native English)
I totally agree that the Mac is worth every penny and is a pleasure to work with (I used to work myself with Macintosh Plus)
but today there are cheaper alternatives.

I have an old iPad and I absolutely hate the thing. There are some features that can actually be useful to me, so I am thinking about buying a new iPad Pro, but it's a lot of money, the interface is ridiculous, and the stupid App Store - I just hate it. All that "it just works" - that's just hype, it does not "just work", very often it does not work at all. And all those complaining about Windows 11 and their old PCs - well, at least you can try doing something about it. New OS for an old iPad - just forget it and nobody even thinks of complaining! On the other hand, as far as the hardware is concerned, iPads are one of a kind ...
