    Power Adapter for Laptop

I bought a second adpator to save havign ti contunially unplug and untangle the one normally used.

It was sold s right for an HP 250 G4 laptop.

The ratings on it none of which I really understand are:

    90 watt
    Input:100-240V~50-60Hz 3A
    ____
    Output: 19.5V ---- 4.62A

The ratings on the original power supply are:
    45W
    Wide Range Input 100-240V ~1.4A 520-60Hz
    ____
    Output: 19.5V ---- 2.31A

There is obviously a difference but I am not usre if these are material. Is anyone able to advise if I shoudl send this back?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

No, they are not material, as long as the output voltage is the same then it will work. The laptop will only draw the current from the supply that it needs, the supply just has to be capable of supplying a current equal to or higher than the power the laptop requires.

The fact that the new power supply is capable of providing up to 90w of power means that it is more than capable of powering your laptop, which was quite happy with the 45w supply you already have. It cannot harm your laptop by using a supply with a higher maximum power than is strictly needed, as the laptop will only ever draw the power it needs from the supply.

    Hi Bree

Thanks. I was less concerned baout the wattage and more with the input/output power ratings which I understand even less. But good to know that it is ok to use.

Your output is now twice the minimum requirement and the voltage is spot on ! this should charge as fast as it can.
