    Runaway Right Margin Scrollbar

At this point I am not sure if it is a browser problem I use Google Chrome Browser the latest version is Version 96.0 .4664.93 Official Build (64-bit).

It is especially bothersome in Reddit and Youtube and Kathryn Reports comments sections. Especially when there are a large number of comments. Computer Specs. HP Laptop 15-dy1xxx
    device name Laptop LMEK7410
    Intel Core i3-1005G1 CPU @ 1.20 GHa 1.19 Ghz
    8.00 GB Ram
    64-bit operating system
    Windows 10 Home
    Version 21H1
    OS Build 19043.1348
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920
The Mouse is a Touch Pad Mouse

What happens is when I am scrolling down the Right Vertical Scrollbar things are going smoothly and I can read the comments normally. Then all o f the sudden the scrollbar races down the page which makes me lose my place. If there are a lot of comments on youtube or if I am reading an NTSB report on Kathryn's Report it can be difficult to find out where I left off reading. Something else I notice is when the Scrollbar Vertical bar is large this doesn't happen but if the Scrollbar is smaller then it goes flying down the right margin. It acts as though it is possessed.

I'm not sure if this is what's happening, but if you accidentally click on the non-shaded area of the scroll bar (non grey), the page will scroll at turbo speed. This is by design.

    Re: Runaway Right Margin Scrollbar

I guess I could be doing that. I did just test that out and you are right. Not that I doubted your comment. @ Ghot.

My problem is I will be scrolling down the right margin using the vertical scrollbar (as far as I can tell) and my mouse pointe is on the grey area instead of moving down one or two places the scrollbar may move 15-20 spaces.

    Hi jcloversX

Have you verified the Vertical Scrolling rate at the touchpad mouse settings by clicking on additional settings show here?

Erratic touchpad performance can often be associated with drivers. The upgrade of your OS may require a different driver than what was previously functional.

Open the Device Manager (Win key + X, then M), locate and expand [Mice & other pointing devices], right click touchpad entry & select properties, & select the Driver tab.

Take note of the Provider, Date & Version, then visit an HP support website & see which drivers are available. That's a good place to start although with any non-current PC you may have to look elsewhere.

Just as an FYI, I captured a few details from the events tab on my own laptop after a Clean Install of 21H1 on 0913.

You can see that initially Microsoft drivers are installed & then almost 3 hours later the MSI oem17.inf drivers from Synaptics were installed. I believe the MSI drivers were offered by wumt, the only drivers that required manual intervention this time were Nvidia (so I could avoid the bloatware).
