    Windows 10 becoming unusable


    Windows 10 2004 OS build 1904.1 1348

    Hi folks, first post, hope you're good.

    The problems I'm having with windows 10:
    Low disc space freezing and crashing firefox.
    Unable to reset win 10 despite trying numerous solutions.
    Cannot download anything.
    Have removed over 2gb of my own downloads and the space was pretty much immediately taken by updates.
    It's been a little odd as solutions aren't even recognised as valid commands.

    I did have win 8.1 which was running great until a friend persuaded me to Ubunto which was unusable and so had to pay to have win 10 put on. These are the same issues I had with win 10 on my desktop of a few years ago. With 8.1 being phased, I'm a little weary about having to navigate win 10 all the time. Being pretty much housebound and totally reliant on a PC for shopping etc, I need it to function and it isn't.

    Any ideas peeps? Hope I've given enough info, thanks

    Hi, please could you give the model number of the laptop?

    According to your specs, you have '28GB of Memory'. Is this perhaps a tablet with very limited EMMC storage?
    (Memory is RAM, not disk space).

    This looks as if you have a tablet with restricted storage, which makes working with it very hard.

    space was pretty much immediately taken by updates.
    It may be that you will not have enough space for Windows upgrades. You can save a little by downloading the update or iso for an upgrade to external storage, and then applying the update manually, but a major feature update (upgrade) will create Windows.old, as large as your Windows folder.

    Another option is to stay on the build you have and disable upgrades altogether.

    You can use TreeSize utility to free up disk space also use my batch script to delete backup files within WinSxS folder.

    In addition to what is being said, press the Windows key +X and choose Disk Management. Please post a screenshot of your Disk Management window showing the lower pane.
