I agree but several websites have called for an image and the same folder opens so it doesn't seem to be the websites, they must have in the coding a default windows folder to call to open?
I edited my above post to cover this as you were also posting. See above.

Thinking this through further, the more I do that, the less it makes any sense for anyone to set a default folder for documents, images, music, or even videos (more marginally as it does make sense to keep all videos in one place. Generally though, any file could and is often filed where it is needed to be filed, which could be anywhere. I am a musician and deal with vast numbers of music related files, and they all need to be filed in quite a few different locations, some even in the Programs\relevant folder, for specific software I use for example. Whereas, downloads does make sense to default to the Downloads folder. Even then, I often do not wish to save a download to the download folder. And downloads might be a PDF that I want to save in the relevant folder. There is nothing that can be defaulted really. And Windows defaults are actually extremely limiting, really just designed for the masses as a starting point, or suggestion. My own filing system uses the folders I actually want, and there's nothing standard about them.

I set all my browsers to save downloads to the Downloads folder in the Options or Preferences, under Firefox it's in Tools. Or I may use Save as so I can point to a different location as desired such as storing on a NAS drive to allow access by other computers I might be on. Some years, and Versions, ago the default for saves was the Desktop and Yes, that is a folder in Users and whoever is logged on.

That has to be it, it is where Chrome opens by default when a website calls for a open folder to chose a image. now to find out how to set it in chrome

Chrome has no option for that for the reasons I have given. Only for Downloads, and I reckon even that may soon be deprecated because more users have become administratively savvy and don't always use defaults for anything much.

In any case, for a browser provider to enable a default folder Browse button path specifically for avatars would require that users always filed avatars in that default location, and not many would want to. It's just not viable. People don'y want such matters dictated but to have the freedom to choose instead.

IMHO the Quick Access workaround that I pointed you towards considering above is still probably the best that you can do.

But if you do sort it out, please post back and tell us how.
