Broken Desk when logging in at startup with different user than before

    Hello Community,

I have the weirdest Issue... My PC is used by my wife and me, each having our own Windows Account.

Some time ago we started experiencing an issue at startup of the system.

Good Scenario: (only one user involved)

    1. User A is logged in and shuts PC down
    2. PC boots up to login screen showing last user A login screen
    3. User A logs in after booting, Desktop is shown after 2 seconds and programs load pretty fast
    All fine!

    Broken Scenario:

    1. User A is logged in and shuts PC down
    2. PC boots up to login screen showing last user A login screen
    3. User B changing to his user in the login screen (bottom left user list) and enters his credentials and logs in
    4. The loading phase takes really long, and when the desktop finally comes on, there are no buttons on the taskbar and the taskbar does not react on mouse clicks on windows icon or anything. The taskbar actually starts flickering when you try to click it.
    5. only way to "solve" it is to CTRL+ALT+DEL and Reboot, as this will bring you back to Login Screen with last "User B", then User B can normally login (see good scenario above).

I tried googling that (pretty hard to search for) issue but found nothing. Eventually, for other reasons, I freshly installed Windows 10, but the issue again appeared on the same day I set the system up.

So the bottom line seems to be: when a user different from the one who was last logged in tries to start the computer it somehow takes a wrong turn and messes up the boot procedure.

What have I changed lately? The only thing that I can think of is that I bought a Razor mouse (installed Razer Synapse Software), which comes with it. Do not know if that could be it, but seems a bit far fetched... I uninstalled the Software, but it did not fix the issue I am having.

    Does anyone have any idea?

Hello Elrood and welcome to tenforums

If you have hibernation enabled, do your test after disabling it:
Enable or Disable Hibernate in Windows 10

Thanks. I tested it, but made no difference. :-(

I also found out that if User A uses Window+L and then changing User to B runs into the same issues when loading that User B's Desktop. If I switch back to User A, then all is fine again.

Edit: and please be reminded that my system is not even 10 hours old! I mean what could I have done in that time?

    Holy Moley...

that Idea with the Razer Naga Pro Mouse did not leave my head... so I unplugged the BT dongle which comes with it and attached my simple work mouse (Logitech with USB).

And voilá! All is fine!! I also tried to connect the Naga with USB, but the issue reoccured again!

So it is definitelly the Razer Naga Pro mouse! I cannot believe it... it somehow messes up the start sequence for the explorer.exe... (saw that explorer.exe failed to load in the windows logs when that issue occured)

Feels a bit insane that the mouse would do that to the system, but apparently it is.

Thanks guys! (although I found it out myself) ;-)
