How can I be sure that a process does not go to sleep?

I confirm that now with just Never Suspend setting the pc works always, no need of a black screensaver.
I assume by 'Never Suspend' you mean 'Display off' set to Never.
It is the display that governs transition to S0. Display on = S0 off.
I only added in the screensaver so I wouldn't get fed up with the screen being on all the time.

In view of the hw of this pc ((Processor Intel Core i3-11xxx Name Processor 1115G4 3.0 GHz (6M Cache, up to 4.1 GHz, 2 cores), speed in GHz 4,1)), do you think I could launch one more dos window (or maybe even two) and run other instances of the same program without slowing the first one (but maybe burnig the processor, now the fan is going extremely low and silent) ?
I know it only showed 34% loading but I don't know if there is a peak loading that would affect matters. Assuming there are no significant peak loads or that they don't take place at the same time, you can run a second instance. A third instance would be a slight overload but that just means the computer will share out CPU time between the instances [so they might not complete quite as quickly as one or two instances would].
Even if they were a heavy load they would not damage the computer anyway.

Since you have 4 threads available (2 per core), running a second instance of your program shouldn't impact interactive response too much. Thermals might be a problem, but you should try doing it to find out for sure. You won't damage the computer. Modern CPUs automatically throttle their clock rate to prevent overheating, so you might check for that. (Clock rate is shown in the Task Manager's CPU display.)

Don't forget to make sure that the separate copies of your program write their results to separate files.
    Thanks a lot

Sorry Denis, I missed your reply, I saw the last and thought that this was the only reply. The Never is the setting in the Power menu, the display goes off in 1 minute. It was not necessary to set Never also in the display.

I confirm that I am now running two windows and the fan is going similar to previous case with one window only. The CPU is now 69% more or less. There are no peaks because the program makes a huge amount of arithmetic and repetitive operations with small integers, the operation of the CPU seems to be flat

    Thanks for your support again!

Exactly what have you set to Never if it is not the display?

S0 starts kicking in as soon as the display turns off.

In the System menu of the Control Panel there are two items: Display (1') and Computer Suspension and this is Never

    Thanks

That setting isn't available on my computer. I'm not sure why.

Sorry: exactly what model of computer/CPU do you have and which edition of Windows is it running?
(Please consider filling out the System Spec page under the forum's Settings menu, which is at the top right of every forum page.)

On my antique (2010 model) laptop, which is running Win10 Pro 21H2, Control Panel/System immediately redirects to the new System settings app. Its search function can't find anything titled "Computer Suspension". I dunno if that's because of the features (not) available in my CPU or the version of Win10 that I'm running. FWIW, my computer occasionally doesn't shut off its display when the timeout has elapsed. I haven't tracked down the culprit yet, but I haven't tried very hard since a reboot fixes it. Note that this is not a plea for help, just a comment since you've been having somewhat similar problems.

Wow, I've never heard of that and don't have it on my computers.

Control panel, System takes you to Settings, System and that has a Display section but I don't have any 'Computer Suspension' entries in there.
    - Settings, System, Power & sleep contains "Screen" & "Sleep" entries that are the same as the ones I had been referring to
[depending on the chosen Control panel, View by]
Control panel, System & security, Power options
    or
    Control panel, Power options
    then
    Change plan settings,
Turn off the display after …

but I suppose your Settings, System, Display is getting you to the same place by a different route.

    All the best,
    Denis

OK. We've been talking about the same thing then. Perhaps my Power & sleep section will also get renamed Power & suspension soon.

Windows is quite inconsistent about some things. Installing, say, Version 21H2 does not give exactly the same Settings/Control panel entries as installing an earlier Version then updating to reach Version 21H2.

    All the best,
