    Remove taskbar icon? (Solved)

    Windows 10 pro, 32 gig ram, 8 core, dual monitors, 21H1 latest build.
    I have an icon on the taskbar for my printer which I do not require, but I cannot find a way to remove it? Turning it off in System /Personalisation /Taskbar does not remove the icon. Is there a way to remove this icon permanently?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Could it be that some software for your (unspecified) printer had an option to place that icon on your taskbar when you installed it? Conversely, it may be you can use that software or its installer to change that option.

    Just a thought..

    No option was given on installation, and there is no option for removing the icon anywhere in the program settings? The program on the taskbar is an Epson app named "My Epson Portal".

    Hi,

    You can remove completely the software from Programs and Features. It is not required for printing.

    My Epson Portal is a free software tool that helps you troubleshoot printer problems. It will also send you occasional nags like new products and special promotions from Epson.

    Thank you for identifying it.

    This may help- both in information about it and how to uninstall it. (Ignore the strange name this forum gives the link).

    If removing the Epson portal does not remove the taskbar shortcut, you can try the following procedure;

    Open the file manager or press the Windows key+R and type or copy & paste the following;

    Code:
    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar
    replacing UserName with your User Name and delete the shortcut from this location.

    It only seems to do that for your links.

    This is the URL (with a space).
    https: //www.shouldiremoveit.com/MyEpson-Portal-13807-program.aspx

    I'm posting from Firefox.

    Any ideas why?

    Many are fine... depends on the particular URL.

    It must depend on where you copy the link from.

    Do you use CloudFlare for DNS or something?

    You could always edit the text after posting.

    Or just use the Insert Link function.
