    Yes. Either perform an inplace upgrade or a clean installation (preferred in my humble opinion).

    Well, the entire operation was a complete success.......this well over ten years old laptop, that was given up for dead long ago, is now running Windows 10, first impressions are that there are no problems at all.......Many thanks to those that helped......
