Can SOMEONE upchannel to MS? :(

    .

I have a serious question needing an answer? Sincy my 'mild' stroke I am at a loss to find a way to 'upchannel' to MS to ask them to get rid of that dam-ed box asking me to run that MS thing to see if my computer will run Win 11. It's already telling me the system will not support it so why is it still nagging (everyone)? I also know IF I do that 'workaround' stuff many are suggesting/doing, MS could (and probably would) cut off support (as many experts have advised they could/would). SO, MS, PLEASE remove that large annoying box in windows update! A SIMPLE program they write could do this as an optional install, right???

I am pretty sure many more well versed in Win 10 could (like the members who 'test' win 10 & the newest Win 11) that we almost all know there is a huge hardwae limitation to successfully running Win 11. MS says it i because of new security BUT those who have delved into this issue suggest the newest security in Win 11 only stops @ 60% attacks (and those who want to get into ppls systems will again find a way around that as well).

I am pretty sure this whole thing is about $ and profits myself, but, so be it. I'll work Win 10 until they do not support it any more (like they did with Win 7) and probably buy another cheap machine that will run Win 11 (or hold off until the next iteration of the MS drama called windows...

So, someone PLEASE start the process to MS to get that prompt off WinUpdate?????

I feel your pain. This annoying box?

If you click the X on the right of that box it goes away, but is replaced by a smaller (but equally annoying) notice on the right of that page.

I very much doubt if MS are going to remove it any time soon. But if you are prepared to edit the registry I have found a way to make it go away and, if you have Pro, stay away.

Yes, it is possible to install W11 on an unsupported machine. And yes, there is a risk that updates may stop (though they haven't yet). But as Windows 10 will be fully supported until 14 October 2025 that's a risk you do not have to take.

The simplest way to let MS know how you feel is to run the Feedback Hub and tell them there. You don't need a Microsoft account to be able to send feedback, but if you do you can track the response (if any) to your feedback. It may not get acted on, but you may feel better for having given MS a piece of your mind

The Trusted Platform Module [TPM] requirement is standard bureaucratic language for "It seemed a good idea at the time"
TPM was designed and implemented for businesses using numerous machines and to help keep control. My motherboard,Gigabyte B450M,has the header, the module was not supplied. When I enquired why not, that was the answer--not for personal use, Version 1.2.
Given the recent Ransomware attacks on public and private organisations,in particular the oil crisis on the east coast of the U.S.A..the effectiveness of TPM is the same as mammary glands on a bull.We pay for an illusion.

:) Thanks Bree, I have done the registry edit and sent a feedback to MS per your linked post regarding this annoying flag. My other Win 10 (home?) machines just might have to wait to see if MS does anything with an update to remove that 'flag' (if I read your replies/post you linked to) correctly). I can see others have posted about this, sorry I didn't find that before posting. :)

:) I hear you, in a way it is just like all the 'secured' military bases in CONUS, also is an illusion, given the miles and miles of fencing outside of 100% visibility... :)

    (snip)
Does the B450M have fTPM? Version 2.0? I'd guess so. Your CPU is on the Win11 supported list, so you could "upgrade" to 11, although I doubt that it would improve your Windows experience.

    For bobkn.
The usefulness of TPM is my objection.
Many large organizations with enormous resources available have been attacked successfully.so we ordinary people are supposed to feel protected with TPM,v.2.
The better protection for us is an offline backup, ready to go USB installer and plain common sense.
The attitude of ---Trust me,I know what's best for you---is arrogant and discourteous.

TPM is not meant to secure your computer. It does nothing to prevent hacking. It's only there to protect licensed software. Which benefits us NOT AT ALL.

So ... you don't need it. I don't need it.

    And I don't have it.

But you say "I can't get Windows 11!"
    I say "so what?"

TPM is the only reason for Windows 11. And since we neither have nor want nor need TPM, then we don't need WIndows 11.

    Just ignore it.
