    HKCU/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/advanced

    Hi all

    With my W10 Home 64bit Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042

    I decided that I wanted to have my taskbar clock also show seconds. In regedit: followed the path : HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENTVERSION/EXPLORER/ADVANCED
    However, the ADVANCED tab was missing, and I could proceed no further.

    Any help for me to locate/restore the ADVANCED tab, much appreciated.

    Keep safe
    best wishes

    Hi, this is what just half the values there look like on mine:
    HKCU/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/advanced-1.jpg

    I've attached a zipped file of my key for you to review.

    It seems concerning that yours is missing..

    If a key or value doesn't exist you have to create it....

    Have you checked your system for the key OP is asking about? It's probably there by default as is mine.

    with the correct \ vs /

    You can recover the ones from your initial installation at the same registry path in...

    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-{Some-random-48bit-GUID}

    Export the key, rename the path inside the reg file and fuse it back on HKCU.

    Hi to daalchina Ricardobohner, Steve108, Malok

    Thank you for your assistance and advice. Not having worked in the registry much at all, I am unfamiliar as to how to add a key. There would be some sequential steps to add a key, of which I am ignorant. In order to add the key to restore the "Advanced" option, how is that done step by step, and what is the full entry, and where should it be entered? (that may not be very clear but, I trust that you will understand)

    With all best wishes

    Download The file Dalchina Shared on post #2, extract the file on your desktop, and double-click on it, Reply yes when the system ask you if you want to continue.

    This will restore all your missing keys without more interventions.

    This is what I used. Highlight & Copy this into a CMD Prompt and press Enter . . .

    Code:

    @echo off
    REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced" /V ShowSecondsInSystemClock /T REG_DWORD /D 1 /F
    taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
    start explorer.exe

    I hope this helps.

    There's even a tutorial... with pictures...
    Export and Import Registry Keys in Windows

    And here's a really really easy way to get seconds: one click:
    HKCU/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/advanced-1.jpg

    Click 'See in detail' ..to see what this does.

    Great free tweaker, well-known on tenforums.
