    Wake monitor on touch screen

    Winver 21H1 OS Build 19043.1348

I have a Windows 10 machine and just purchased a 15inch monitor touch screen. It works great just plug and play. However, to conserve energy and life of the monitor I have the computer set to turn off monitor after 10 minutes of inactivity. Problem is touching the screen will not wake it up. And there is no power button on the screen itself. And I plan to have no keyboard or mouse hooked to this machine. There is however a remote which I can use to power on the monitor but touching the screen to wake it up would be real convenient. The computer stays on 24/7 as it serves as a server.

I've done some research about how to wake it up with touch and that seems to be a new feature that is available in Windows 11. However, what about Windows 10? I've also read about adding a reg code to disable modern standby but it states it is used for AoAC systems which I am not familiar with. Here is the link.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

AoAC is just a generic term for having S0 Modern standby [that reflects its original ambition].
    Always on, always connected. AoAC.

Do you have S0 Modern standby [aka S0 Low Power Idle]? Run this command to find out.
    Code:
    powercfg -a
But I don't see the relevance of S0 to your problem.

I do not understand why you think it will be possible to set the touchscreen as a "wake source". That is something designed into the hardware drivers & the OS.
    - That encouragingly-titled MSDocs link you posted does not address the issue.
    - A touchscreen is definitely not a "wake source" within S0 Modern standby.
    - On my [non-S0] laptop & desktop I can wake their screens by touching them. That's how they were designed; I've never known of anything I can do to set such behaviour up. Do please note that I am, like you, referring to turning screens back on not waking computers from sleep.

Where is the document that told you the touchscreen could be a "wake source" in Windows 11?

    Best of luck,
    Denis

Good info. I actually misread about waking the screen with touch on Windows 11. Its actually waking the computer from standby with touch. Windows 11 could bring 'Wake on Touch' feature to new PCs and Surfaces | Windows Central

Here is what I got from powercfg -a

    Code:
The following sleep states are available on this system:
        Standby (S3)

The following sleep states are not available on this system:
        Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

        Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

        Hibernate
            Hibernation has not been enabled.

        Standby (S0 Low Power Idle)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

        Hybrid Sleep
            Hibernation is not available.

        Fast Startup
            Hibernation is not available.

I assume your computer is a desktop.

In my case, my desktop's touchscreen is its only display.
Is the touchscreen your desktop's only display? I would not be surprised if that made a difference.
Other than that I suggest you ask the motherboard, display adapter & touchscreen makers what they think.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

    Congratulations.

S0 Modern standby was designed by Beelzebub and you can be glad that you are not afflicted with it.

Maybe a fingerprint reader would wake up the screen?

    I have no idea.

Since you'll be keeping a USB-connected keyboard handy in case you need to go into the Bios, you could press a key on that to turn the display back on.
